Common Sense "UnAmerican Caravan" 1991 Demo!!!

On "A Penny For My Thoughts", the first song off of Common's fka Common Sense's debut album "Can I Borrow A Dollar?", Twilite Tone introduces him as "Common Sense and the UnAmerican Caravan". I always wondered who or what was the UnAmerican Caravan? I'm still not 100% sure. I believe it has something to do with the crew Common was down with as Twilight Tone finished that introduction with the UnAmerican Caravan being "true B-Boys". But NOW thanks to ReclineOffOneLine's blog I have more insight!

Along with other Hip Hop greats like the Notorious B.I.G and Eminem, Common was featured in the Source magazine's "Unsigned Hype" section. The "UnAmerican Caravan" was the demo that got Common recognized and later featured in the Source. This is DOPE! It features Common's early trademark high-pitched rhymes (which I kinda miss by the way) and some earlier versions of songs that were featured on "Can I Borrow A Dollar?". Including the CLASSIC "Take It EZ". So check out this 7 song demo from a MC who would later emerge as an MC worthy enough to be mentioned in "Top 5 Dead or Alive" discussions.

This is Hip Hop history fam! ENJOY!!!
